A native Southern Californian born in LA, raised in the OC and currently residing in Silver Lake, Kurt sports a lifetime obsession with all things music which includes 24 years in the biz working the publicity angles for a wide variety of artists and genres. He attended UCLA remaining undeclared for 4 ½ years instead focused on attending legendary tours by the likes of The Smiths, Jesus & Mary Chain, The The, Echo & The Bunnymen (who’ve finally come full circle as a client), Cocteau Twins, Gun Club, Husker Du, countless Janes Addiction club dates, etc.. He finally graduated and landed an internship with Enigma Records where he immersed himself in early Flaming Lips and Tim Buckley albums. A whirlwind of major/indie label gigs ensued throughout the 90’s and early oughts including Island Music Publishing, Virgin Records, MCA Records (7 years in publicity department—working with everyone from Lyle Lovett to Al Green) and Windham Hill/Private Music (6 years as head of the PR department creating campaigns for Etta James, Barry White, Janis Ian & George Winston among others). Freelance life beckoned and he continued working with artists as diverse as Bill Frisell, Boz Scaggs, Camper Van Beethoven, the Bunnymen, Ravi Coltrane, Los Lobos, Angelique Kidjo, Loudon Wainwright III and others. When not working with musicians, he’ll likely be watching Dodgers and Clippers games.
Born in the Sound Beach enclave of Long Island, NY during the 1970s, Matthew Kayser is fortunate enough to really only remember the gargantuan ’80s. He had no choice but to be influenced by the mega artists of the time, true superstars such as U2, Bruce Springsteen, Guns n’ Roses and The Police. His ear naturally gravitates towards tunes meant to be sung by extremely large audiences. This passion for the epic inevitably crept into Matthew’s own songwriting, that of which he has temporarily put aside after ten years of fronting some of the best (and worst) bands you’ve never heard. For the past decade, Matthew has tried to positively influence high school students in the South Bronx and Chicago’s South Side by teaching a combination of Social Studies, ELA and ethics. The only things he adores more than performing, listening to, and writing about music are his wife, Rebecca, and their three children. NYC is where Matthew eventually wants to live while positively contributing to the music industry via his skills with the written word and his own brand of songwriting. Matthew is beyond thrilled to be writing for The MuseBox, a company that he believes quite simply “gets it” as it pertains to what musicians want and need.
Elysia (Eh – Lee – Sha) Gamo was born and raised in Riverside CA. She moved to Laguna Niguel, CA where she attended Saddleback College to earn an Associates Degree in Communications to Transfer. While she was there, she played doubles for the Women’s Saddleback Tennis Team for two years. After completing the general education requirement, she transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara where she graduated with a B.A in Communications. Elysia is a foodie at heart and is a Disney enthusiast (specifically Pixar). She loves to binge watch Parks and Recreation, The Office, and Friends, but most importantly she listens to all types of music 24/7. She is very interested in discovering new music and compiling playlists that fit everyday moods and genres. When she listens to music she experiences life like she’s in a music video.
Hi guys, my name is Maddie. I’m a public relations student with a concentration in sports and entertainment management with a minor in communication studies at the University of Alabama. I grew up falling asleep to the Beach Boys and the Beatles which drove my love for music. Since then I’ve been to every type of concert you can think of from country, alternative, hip-hop, indie and top 40. When I’m not listening to music, you can normally find me doing homework, on my social media accounts or binge watching show reruns on Netflix. I hope that one day I can impact someone with music in a way that’s similar to how music has impacted my life.
I’m Lexi Proffitt. I currently am a junior at the University of Alabama, and am studying Communication Studies and Public Relations. I was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. Ever since I was young I have always wanted to experience new things and see new places. This is why I decided to move away from home and attend Alabama, and I don’t regret it one bit. During my time at Alabama I have been apart of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, and also have been able to experience some good old SEC football. When I’m not spending most of my time doting school work or studying, I usually am trying to find new music to listen to on Soundcloud or Spotify. I also enjoy spending my free time hanging out with my family and traveling!
Hello I’m Dan. I am currently a junior at the University of New Haven majoring in business management. I was born and raised in a small suburb outside of Boston and fell in love with the local music scene going to lots of shows and eventually playing in a couple bands. I am an active member in my school’s Music Industry Club and started a record label with some of my friends freshman year called Further Sky Records. In my spare time I like to hang out with friends, watch The Office on Netflix and find cool things at thrift shops.
My name is Mike McGee; I’m currently a senior at the University of North Alabama, majoring in Entertainment Industry with a minor in Music. I’ve been a musician my whole life and love writing songs. I grew up around the rich musical history of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and recently moved to Nashville, Tennessee to fulfill a childhood dream of living in Music City USA. I like to spend my free time checking out local coffee shops and restaurants, writing music for movies and video games, and watching Netflix with the wife and our cats.
